The Starting Line

Brief Biography
The Starting Line is a four-piece pop punk/emo band from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. In 1999, the band that would become The Starting Line was initiated in Churchville, Pennsylvania via an e-mail from guitarist Matt Watts to vocalist/bassist Kenny Vasoli. It asked if the then fourteen-year-old Vasoli, who was at that time in a band called Smash Adams, was interested in "Jamming and shit", as the message title read. Only a few weeks later, Vasoli found himself rehearsing with his future bandmates Watts, guitarist Mike Golla and drummer Tom Gryskewicz.

Discography - Latest Album
Based on a True Story (2005)
Released by Drive-Thru Records and Geffen Records. The album was mainly produced by Tim O'Heir, except for the songs "Making Love to the Camera", which was produced by Eric Rachel, "Bedroom Talk" and "The World", which were produced by Howard Benson. The latter were originally also produced by O'Heir, but were re-recorded as Geffen was not satisfied with how the original songs turned out. However, the band stated they are more fond of O'Heir's mixes, which can be found on P2P file-sharing programs.

Three additional songs recorded in pre-production, titled "Lasting Impressions", "Classic Jazz" and "The Rain Cloud and I", were cut from the album but later released online on the band's PureVolume profile. "Lasting Impressions" was a full band version of a song off their previous acoustic EP, The Make Yourself at Home EP.
