Released through Island Records. The first single taken from the album is "Counting 5-4-3-2-1", this single is about a childhood friend of Geoff Rickley who died at a young age before being able to explore the world. According to the lyrics of "Counting 5-4-3-2-1", his friend could have died in a train accident or a fire.

Their first on a major label, Island Records. The band has stated on numerous occasions that the title is not political, but rather that it reflects the struggles we all face in our daily lives.
This album was produced by Sal Villanueva who has produced all of Thursday's previous recordings.

The first four tracks are live versions of songs from Full Collapse, recorded while the band performed on the Vans Warped Tour. The fifth track, a new song named "Jet Black New Year", quickly became popular amongst fans. The EP also featured stories by each of the band members, including touring (and now permanent) keyboardist Andrew Everding. Like all other Thursday records, Five Stories Falling was produced by Sal Villanueva and mixed by Rumblefish.

Released on Victory Records. It combines heavy, hardcore influences with melodic elements and deep, emotional lyrics delivered through melody, and in times of desperation and anger, screams. It helped to establish Thursday as an immensely popular group in the indie, and alternative rock music scenes. Live cuts of Tracks 2, 4, 7 and 9 appear on the band's 2002 Victory Records live EP Five Stories Falling.
